"This is the story of a girl... |
The story so far... In December of 2000 I got the best Christmas present ever...the news that I would be an uncle! On August 13, 2001, Kenedi Lyn Kelso came into the world on the third anniversary of her grandma Barbara's death from cancer. Weighing in at 8lbs. 6oz., she was definitely a bundle of joy for a family saddened by the early passing of a beloved mother.
In October of 2001 I decided to add a Kenedi page to my website. It was not much to look at in those early days...a blah white page with a few photos on it.
But in time I worked harder at it as my graphical and webworking skills developed. Some thematic elements emerged, including a few colors, fonts, and some flowers that would come to symbolize the website.
As my sister Aimee sent me new Kenedi photos, they got added to the site, until it was getting too big in terms of size and loading time. Something had to be done!
As Kenedi's first birthday neared, Aimee sent another batch of pictures, and new strands were added to the site as I made a birthday page and the gallery that now replaces that first simple page of pictures.
After that, I took a break for a few weeks. Then another package came from Aimeepictures of Kenedi's birthday party! That motivated me to utilize everything I'd learned to create an awesome new site with better graphics and more features. After about two weeks of frantic work, the new site was ready.
The Internet is the greatest thing that has ever occured in the history of human communication. Even bigger and better than the fabled Library of Alexandria, it is the repository for everything we know and love. If people have a passion for somethinganything!you can find it on the webs. In the early 1990's then-President Bush spoke about "a thousand points of light." Now we have something even betterthe light of millions of computer screens as people communicate and share what they love. This site is but one realization of that incredible dream.
The site celebrates the "link" that Kenedi is in our lives. It is dedicated to everyone who knows and loves her. Instead of a "labor" of love I call it a "web of love," since it is more fun than labor to create this site. As Kenedi continues to grow, so will the site. Some things wait only for time and energy, others for the slow building of knowledge and skills. I can say that it is only one expression of creativity, and that others are yet to come.
Enjoy Kenedi's site, Uncle Bruce
